This weekend Yorkshire wedding photography took me to the stunning Ripley Castle, Ripley, a stones throw away from Knaresborough and Harrogate.  Situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, this is one of the premier wedding venues in Yorkshire.

Pear & Phil, who met at University were the most laid back couple I had met for quite some time.  Pear dressed at one of the rooms across the road from the Boar’s Head and although she chose to walk to the Castle along a cobbled road, she was not deterred from wearing her favourite six inch plus shoes!!!!!  I had visions of one of the heels getting caught between the cobbles but she almost glided to the castle in pursuit of her bridesmaids.  Her shoes would play a part later that day!!!

Well I still have nightmares about this shot.  Moments before it was taken I had discussed how slippy the jetty had become and did not want Pear to venture on to it in her stilts, er…, I mean shoes.  She was having none of it and referred to me as a girl!!!!  I walked her onto the jetty and just before I let go of her, you guessed it, she slipped backwards.  What I hadn’t mentioned was how cold the day was.  It’s very rare that I feel the cold when working (nothing to do with the little bit of weight I’m carrying!!!) but today the wind was cutting through everyone.  I applauded Pear & Phil for agreeing to go down to the jetty in the first place.

Anyway back to the impending splash!! and my career in tatters!!!!  As Pear stumbled backwards, she grabbed my arms, thank God she was the strong, athletic woman that she was as I felt sure she was doomed!!!  I’m now unbelievably thrilled with the result, thank you Pear.
